The key point of marketability is certainly the quality of work one does, but just as important is the type of projects and connections that are involved in that project. The resume of an audio engineer is vital, assuming that they are talented and produce more than satisfactory audio mixes, but it’s also how one presents themselves with accomplished audio engineers in the industry.  After speaking to Emmy Award winning sound editor, Marlena Grzaslewicz, who has been in the post production audio industry for over 30 years, the most important way of marketing oneself as an audio engineer is through networking in the industry, whether it’s working in an audio house or freelancing for companies. Sure, social media and one’s quality of their portfolio/reels and own work is always important, but as said earlier, the type of people one knows in the industry is the most important. It’s knowing how to be your genuine self while also making a professional image that is reliable and client driven.
